Dean was a heavy sleeper, so when your nightmares came, it surprised you when he woke. Just lately your nightmares had been very similar; they all featured you losing Dean in some horrific way.
So when you felt Dean’s arms wrap tightly around your waist and pull you as close as possible to his chest, you instantly felt better. Dean would kiss your forehead and stroke your hair, whispering that he was here and he was never leaving, until you finally succumbed back to sleep; with Dean’s warmth keeping the monsters at bay, if only just for the rest of the night.
